2016 MSBOA HS Solo & Ensemble Results
Western sent 60 events (more than ever!). 30 Division One, 24 Division Two, 4 Division Three, One No Rating and no No Show. All in all, and EXCELLENT showcase of the talent at Western! I am very proud of all the students that worked so hard to prepare their event!
State Solo & Ensemble Festival is on March 19, 2016 at Lapeer High School. Registration is due by Thursday, February 18 (very quickly!). See Mr. Heydenburg to pick up a registration form.

- leave SSL disabled

- Click SAVE (upper right corner) when you are done. Go and see your calendar!
- go to Google Calendar on the web
- Choose "Other calendars"
- In the dropdown menu, choose "Add by URL"
- Insert the URL of your choice
- on Settings / Accounts & sync -> select your account, check the "Sync Calendar" option.

2015 District Band Festival Results
Congratulations to all the band students of Bay City Western High School and Middle School for their terrific performances at MSBOA District 5 Band & Orchestra Festival on February 27, 2015.
The Eighth Grade Band earned and overall Division II rating. Both the High School Concert Band and Symphonic Band earned Division I ratings, with the Symphonic Band earning 'straight I's' for the eleventh consecutive year. Since 2001, the High School Bands have earned Division I ratings every year except in 2003.
Thank you to all the many parent and student volunteers that help to make hosting festival at Western a success and tremendous "home field advantage"! You are all the best!
Bowlathon Seeks Business Sponsors
The Western Bands Parent Council is looking for area business to sponsor a lane at the Bowling Alley. If you know of someone who owns a business and would like to contribute to our fundraising endeavor, please either contact Jennifer Swiecicki at 989-686-2428 or download a copy of the sponsorship letter here. Businesses can select from three donation options of $100, $250 or $500.
Our goal this year is to raise $6000.

Hilden & Scott Selected to MSBOA All-State Band
Congratulations to senior Katarina Hilden (euphonium) and eighth grader Kamryn Scott (euphonium) for their selection to the 2015 MSBOA All-State Honors Band! Katt and Kamryn will spend three days rehearsing in Grand Rapids in January and then put on a concert with the top musician from all over the state!
Also, eighth grader, Eric Urbanski (percussion) was selected for Honoroable Mention! Congratulations to you also!
In order to be selected, students had to participate in a 'blind' audition process in October. Several students from Western Middle School and High School auditioned as well as thousands of students from all over the state.
MSBOA All-State Audition schedule
The audition schedule for MSBOA All-State Band can be viewed here. Auditions take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 25 & 26 at Saginaw Heritage High School. Students that are not studying privately should see their director this week after school.

Bay City Western High School Band Itinerary
Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the event ($5/adult, $2/non-performing student). There are NO CONCESSIONS. Students should eat dinner before loading the bus. Students are required to stay until Dow completes their performance. Students wishing to ride home with their parents may do so – they must turn in a transportation form – available from Mr. H.
